It’s easy to forget how important our Instagram bio is, but for many people, it’s their first impressions of us! We want it to make a lasting impression and encourage them to follow along!👋🏼

I've compiled some of my do's and don'ts for everything Instagram bio. You can take these tips and immediately put them to work!

6 Things to Take Out of Your Instagram Bio

  1. Threads Username: This adds clutter and distracts from the more important stuff! Plus, if people can't figure out what type of business you are without the category label, then you need to go back and add that into your bio!

  2. Category Label: This adds clutter and distracts from the more important stuff!

  3. Typed Location: Don't waste precious characters in your bio! Tag it using the contact options!

  4. Fancy Fonts: These fonts are not native to the Instagram app, meaning Instagram can’t read it! We want the app to be able to read what we are writing (especially if it’s keywords) so it can categorize our profile and help push it to the right people!

  5. Avoid Anything Clickable That's not a Link: This means hashtags, a tagged profile, etc. Why? It takes people AWAY from your profile! We want them to stay on our profile as long as possible!

  6. Lengthy Sentences: We want our bio to be easily and quickly scannable! Lengthy sentences make that harder to do and most people will skim right past it! Think short bullet points instead!💥

3 Things to Add to Your Bio

  1. Call to Action: If you have something linked in your bio, what should they do with it? What even is it?
  2. SEO Words: Think of words people would use to search for an account like yours! Try incorporating as many of those in your bio as possible without sounding weird.
  3. What you do/Who you help: What are they going to find if they follow your page? Make this clear! Plus, if you can add your personality to it, that's even better!

Overall, there are quite a few things to consider when making your Instagram bio. But hopefully, this list helps make it easy for you!
